K-Type Thermocouple Price: OEM Quote Factors

K-Type Thermocouple Price Depends on the Finished Assembly

There is no useful universal price for a K-type thermocouple without a defined configuration. A bare sensing junction, a sheathed probe, and a complete assembly with extension cable and connector are different items to quote. For an OEM comparison, match the same technical scope, quantity and delivery requirements across suppliers.

What affects a K-type thermocouple quote?

  • Probe construction: sensing-junction style, sheath material and diameter, insertion length, termination and any mounting features affect the bill of materials and manufacturing steps.
  • Wire and insulation: lead length, conductor size, insulation material, shielding, temperature exposure and whether thermocouple-grade or extension-grade cable is required should be stated explicitly.
  • Connector and interface: specify connector type, polarity, pinout, termination, strain relief and instrument input. A matching K-type designation does not by itself confirm mechanical or electrical interchangeability.
  • Tolerance and verification: state the required thermocouple tolerance class and reference conditions, inspection records, calibration evidence or acceptance tests. These are separate from the controller and installed system’s total measurement error.
  • Environment and mounting: describe process temperature, medium, pressure, flow, vibration, moisture, chemical exposure, installation method and expected service conditions. Do not assume a probe rating from its thermocouple type alone.
  • Quantity and supply terms: tooling or setup, sample and production quantities, packaging, lead time and shipping terms can affect a commercial quotation.

How to compare quotes fairly

Prepare one specification sheet and send it to each supplier. Compare the exact probe drawing, wire construction, connector, tolerance, inspection scope, quantity and delivery terms. Ask the supplier to list any assumptions or exclusions, especially for calibration, environmental testing and custom terminations. A lower unit price may cover a different configuration.

Before releasing the design, verify the thermocouple input and compensation method on the receiving instrument. For background on the thermocouple family, see our thermocouple type selection guide. Review available thermocouple sensors when defining the probe and assembly scope.

What to send for an OEM quote

Include the application and measurement point, operating and excursion temperatures, medium, probe material and dimensions, junction style, cable length and insulation, connector or lead termination, instrument model, tolerance and verification requirements, sample quantity and annual volume. Attach a drawing or reference sample when available. This helps suppliers quote the same assembly and identify details requiring technical review.

Request an OEM thermocouple quotation with your drawing and operating conditions. Final suitability should be confirmed for the actual assembly and installation.
